Review: Beastly by Alex Flinn

Beastly
By: Alex Flinn

Rating:

Love is never ugly
Now a major motion picture starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer
I am a beast. A beast! Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster.
You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll,stay this way forever unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

Review:
I read this before the movie came out and although the movie was great and true to the story I found more in depth feelings in the book and more in depth thought. This book is something I borrowed from the Library then bought it when I was done reading it. Its something I know I will read again. I loved the story and the characters and even more I loved the modern twist on the classic tale.
Good:
The idea of putting a modern twist on a classic tale is always a good idea, when its done right and Beastly was done right. I, like Lindy, fell in love with the beast. in the beginning I saw what a jerk he was and the Flinn really brings you into the transformation of Kyle. You can't help liking him even when he is being rude.

Bad:
There wasn't really many things that were bad about this novel. I think the story was perfect and the characters were well developed.

If you like this you might like: Cloaked by Alex Flinn, or Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine and Fairest by Gail Carson Levine.

Next in the Series:
Beastly: Lindy's Diary
