Because it sounded good.

Summary taken from Chapters/Indigo.ca:

A warrior, a demon, and the girl next door.  .  .
Looking For Trouble
Addy Corwin is a florist with an attitude. A bad attitude, or so her mama says, 'cause she's not looking for a man. Mama's wrong. Addy has looked. There's just not much to choose from in Hannah, her small Alabama hometown. Until Brand Dalvahni shows up, a supernaturally sexy, breathtakingly well-built hunk of a warrior from--well, not from around here, that's for sure.  Mama thinks he might be European or maybe even a Yankee. Brand says he's from another dimension.
Addy couldn't care less where he's from. He's gorgeous. Serious muscles. Disturbing green eyes.  Brand really gets her going. Too bad he's a whack job. Says he's come to rescue her from a demon. Puh-lease. But right after Brand shows up, strange things start to happen. Dogs talk and reanimated corpses stalk the quite streets of Hannah. Her mortal enemy Meredith, otherwise known as the Death Starr, breaks out in a severe and inexplicable case of butt boils. Addy might not know what's going on, but she definitely wants a certain sexy demon hunter by her side when it all goes down...

Well this book was very different and very likable at the same times. I’ve never read about an inter-galactic demon hunter. Well I have read Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch, which does sort of resemble this book, except her involves Aliens, secret agents and a more in depth plot and story line. However, this one was new and refreshing. Although, there were many little odd things. More like awkward moments. Like someone bursting into flames and it’s the only time it happens and its barely explained or touched on. And there is a zombie for a little bit. I guess there are just many different supernatural being and events in this novel it almost seemed a little crowded and off focus. That being said it was still a pretty decent story line. Although why she was chosen was never really explained. This novel is also very heavily focused on the romance/sex for the first half of the novel and then it sort of didn’t focus on it so much which also made it a little awkward. But the hot and heavy scenes were very hot and very heavy. And... made me want a Brand of my own.

Brand—hot. Hottie. Made me melt. Also appose to lying. Love him
Addy—Tough chick. And uses a lot of southern slang

The Thrawl—She was not explained very well. I mean she sounded sort of like a bad guy but is apparently good. She sucks emotions out of people…???

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

Overall some of the book was awkward. I felt like the story line needed further explanations, there were some parts that could have been cut completely and a better focus on what the author really wants to come across. However, the characters were interesting, the guys were hot, and some things were a little scary and actually made my heart race a bit. So I have to admit that I will continue with the series with the hopes that it will pick up better in the next book.

Next In the Series:

Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar (#3) ETA: Jan 31st 2012

Viewer Type Recommendation:

If you like the supernatural that is heavy on the romance than this is the novel for you.

If you liked this you'll probably love:

Daughters of Glen series by Melissa Mayhue, Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones, Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost, Wild About Youseries by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Katherine “Kitty” Katt series by Gini Koch
