Summary taken from Goodreads:

Ghosts harass and annoy Tess to save their souls. Sometimes she helps them. Other times she ignores them. But one ghost will give her no choice. Kipp, a former cop with the Memphis Police Department, will stop at nothing to gain her help, including using his ghostly charms to seduce her.

Tess must help solve the five-year-old cold case of Hannah Reid’s disappearance, because solving the case will save Kipp. But a bigger problem presents itself. Tess is falling in love with a ghost. Now she must decide. Keep Kipp forever, or find the killer.

Review:

Kipp, Kipp, Kipp. The things you say make me knees so weak. And you were a cop. *Swoon, then passes out. This book took me by surprise. I was expecting a cute peppy read and a got a little of that, and a little romance…and a little seriousness. The sarcasm flows in this novel like the Mississippi and I laughed out loud and re-read many passages just to relive them. The characters are all interesting and I love how Tess blushes and is unable to hide her emotions from anyone let a lone Kipp who calls her on it all the time. And Kipp…what an introduction he made…I was blushing. I have a theory of why Kipp remembers more about his life than any others and I am waiting for the third book before I start in on the second. I know this is the kind of series that I won’t be able to read the next book until there is at least one more in the series. It’s so funny, and so emotional, and the characters are so captivating that I just want more and will probably get tangled up in this series when the third book is released.

Good:

Tess—sarcastic, independent, and wants nothing more than just a simply life. Admits that she is afraid, but still pulls through when she needs to.

Kipp—Oh. My. Lord. If I met you I would grovel at your feet. He is sexy, smart, determined, a cop, and the alpha male type.

Zach—Kipp’s best friend, partner, and roommate. Sexy in his own way and seems like the perfect match for Caley

Caley—Tess’ best friend. She is determined, and refuses to not get her way. She never starts something unless she finishes what she was doing first. My kind of girl.

Bad:

Tess—not too intelligent. I’m pretty sure I’m right in my calls for the future of the series and the fact that Tess doesn’t see it doesn’t make me happy.

Because of my guess, which I’m sure a lot of people have also guessed the same as me, and after reading the synopsis of the next book I have a feeling that I might be frustrated with the next book, so I’m waiting for the third book to come out, and there is no set date as of yet. I hate waiting lol. I guess this all means this series is going to be I look forward to.

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

Overall the characters and writing style were right up my alley. I love the sarcastic humour that mixes well with the crime/mystery theme of the novel. The writing was never hard to follow, in fact I found myself re-reading moments that made me smile or laugh out loud. I did find some of the book slow and I thought it would have been a bit longer and I have to say two love interests who cannot feel or touch each other is extremely frustrating, especially when you fall in love with them being in love. If that makes any sense.
