I was informed of an upcoming blog book tour and when I looked in to summary I knew I had to sign up.

Summary taken from Goodreads:

**Due to sexual content and heavy subject matter, this book is recommended for ages 16+**

Fiercely liberal Monica Remy prefers to blend in. Despite her tattoos, piercings, and outspoken personality, she transferred to Central to escape—before she finds out that her next door neighbor is the uber conservative governor's son, Trey Chapman.

No matter how hard she tries to avoid Trey, he still finds a way to get under her skin. Monica can’t stand his crisp white shirts or his staunch views on women. But she can’t help counting every freckle on his face and wondering what it would feel like to have him stop talking politics and kiss her.

A class debate project forces the unlikely pair to work together, and the political lines are blurred in late-night make out sessions. But despite their fiery chemistry, Trey’s politics threatens to smother their relationship for good.

Review:

You have to love a guy who is determined to go on a date with you. Trey Chapman is that man. And Monica Remy is the woman he wants. Dear lord it was hot. My blood pressure rose, my cheeks flushed, and I had a fan at the ready. Like the majority of New Adult novels one of the characters believes to have something “wrong” with them. They’re messed up in a way. But, of course these issues make it a juicier read. This book was different from all the others that I have read, mainly because of the political part. That is how Trey and Remy meet and fall for each other. They have opposing views on politics. On top of all of this Trey changes throughout the novel. I’m still not 100% sure if that is a good thing or not, but I loved him all the way through. Magan Vernon’s The Only Exception is an emotional rollercoaster that I would happily wait in line to be on again. She brings a little something new to the world of New Adult books.

Good:

Remy—Fiesty even after everything she’s been through. Set on her beliefs and extremely determined.

Trey—Exactly like Remy. Determined, set on his beliefs, and a damn fine kisser according to Remy.

The closest I could find to my idea of Trey:

Bad:

Nothing that I can think of.

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

The story was very well written and very easy to follow. There wasn’t really a huge climatic moment, but there was a moment that was extremely important, just minus the plot building up to it. I never had to re-read anything, and I can definitely say it was the type of writing that can really suck you into the world the author has created. I am definitely up for reading more of Magan Vernon’s writing.
