Reason chosen:

I’ve read the Crash series by Nicole Williams and absolutely loved it! So I had to pick this one up.

Summary taken from Goodreads:

There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

Review:

Hello Jesse! This guy...well, he could very well be my dream guy. He’s a cowboy who wears tight jeans and happens to be...nice. I love him. I love his cocky attitude, his dimples, and his overall good nature. God, I love those dimples. In this New Adult novel the general roles are reversed: Rowen is the bad guy, and Jesse is the nice guy, and I was more than ok with the role reversal...I actually liked it. Did I ever mention I like Cowboys? Ya...just a bit. Anyhow, Jesse is like an angel in tight pant riding a horse. Wow...that’s an awesome picture. But Rowen, she’s not too bad herself. She’s come from a lifer with a mother that is just too hard on her and never sees the good only acknowledges the bad. So, she does what most teens do...she acts out. She dresses racy and expresses herself while trying to find her place. She goes to work on the ranch in exchange for her mother paying her tuition to the art school of her choice. A pretty fair deal, but even though Rowen tries to stay out of trouble...sometimes it comes right to her front door. This novel was charming, romantic. dramatic, and emotional and had my attention at the turn of every digital page.

Good:

Jesse-I seriously think he is my dream guy. Clearly I need to move to the states and find a nice guy like this on a ranch.

This is how I pictured Jesse:

Rowen-full of spirit, independence, and determination.

Here is how I pictured Rowen:

Jesse’s parents-I think I could kiss them.

Garth-a good “bad guy” but I think under all that dark clothes there is something good...sometime more to him.

Bad:

Jesse fell for Rowen hard and fast... I think it was a little unreasonable.

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

Overall this novel was extremely enjoyable and easy to read! You won’t find any complaints about the writing here except...well Jesse fell for Rowen pretty fast. He makes sure she doesn’t have a boyfriend on day one. That might have been a little too quick for me, but that happen pretty early on and was something I could brush off pretty easy once they started “courting”, as in when Jesse starting making his move by hitting on her. The story line was a good read and interesting, and I find myself purchasing the next on as I type.
