I read the summary and I thought “I already know this is going to be a crazy book” and I was in.
Have you ever gone just a little too far?
Lexie Banks has.
Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.
But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.
You should have seen my face the entire time I was reading this novel. I was confused. Lexie has a thing for her step-brother and an up and coming priest, and both of those are short of a social Taboo, or as the title suggests “A Little Too Far”. But, I really enjoyed these characters including Lexie. The story starts off on a pretty good note in my opinion, you see Lisa Desrochers starts the romance off early, and I was really ok with that because...it was hot. The entire novel is filled with hot romance, awkward situations, and sexual tension. I like, I like, I like. And, Lexie goes away out of the country and she has to deal with things in a foreign land. Even long distance her emotions can’t seem to calm down and figure themselves out. There are late night text messages and phone calls from people back home that make her think she should just move on, but the crazy sexy moments keep replaying in her head and she can’t escape. I don’t want to spoil it too much, but the book is filled with hot moments, hot step-brothers, hot priests, and crazy hormones and I just loved it.
Trent- He really cares about Lexie. I love the curl hair, the built bod from wrestling and...the guitar.
Alessandro- A hot priest. What could be worse for the heart? He’s nice, and built from boxing. And he’s confused about whether or not his future lies with the church. *Sigh
It’s two pretty big social taboos in one book. I was confused and still am about how I feel about the two situations. I want to say “hey if they love each other”, but part of me still finds it weird.
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Overall I did enjoy the book quite a bit. I found myself forgetting about how these things were taboos and found myself falling in love with both Trent and Alessandro and completely understanding Lexie’s feelings. The writing was very well done and easy to follow. There was some humour and a lot of sexy sexy romance. I’ll say that Lisa Desrochers is pretty good at writing those scenes.

Character Interview with:
Wow…that’s tough. She was thirteen when we first met, and had just gotten braces. But she was seriously cute. And she always talked with her hands. How much food she spilled because of it was a running joke when we were younger. There was something different about her, even then. She was so full of passion. It didn’t matter if she was sketching something, or conjugating verbs for Spanish homework, there was always an intensity about her. She hasn’t changed.
Some stuff happened between us before our parents got married, and there’s always been a spark smoldering beneath the surface. But once our parents got hitched, we knew we couldn’t do anything about it. Then she became my best friend…my other half, really…and I just never thought about it becoming more. Until it did.
Her passion. And her laugh. And the way one look into her eyes tells you everything she’s thinking. And how her bottom lip gets pouty when she’s really pissed. And how she always…wait. You said thing…as in one. Sorry…
You have a problem with Jethro? Because he kicks serious butt. Show him a troll, and that sucker’s toast. Christ, you sound like Lexie.
That’s cheating. You have to read the book if you want to know that.
